Dear Members,

I wish to remind rabbit scientists from lesser developed countries (LDC’s) that a programme developed two years ago by the WRSA is available to assist those interested in preparing papers for the upcoming 10th World Rabbit Congress in Sharm El-Sheikh (Egypt) 3-6 September, 2012. You may trust that the WRSA council is highly sensitive of the special needs of LDC scientists in their mission to promote rabbit production to help feed a hungry world and is committed to accepting papers of the highest rigor and quality.
As stated in my memo of May 27, 2009, the programme consists of discipline coordinators with the charge of assisting LDC scientists. To be clear, the broad purpose of the programme is to freely share expertise and provide guidance to scientists to do good research, write strong papers for refereed journals (preferably World Rabbit Science), and present high quality papers at conferences.

The following coordinator appointees have been installed:

  • Manuel Baselga Izquierdo : Genetics - mbaselgaizquierdo@yahoo.es
  • Concha Cervera : Nutrition - ccervera@dca.upv.es
  • Gabriela González-Mariscal : Reproduction - gglezm@prodigy.net.mx
  • Antonio Lavazza : Pathology - antonio.lavazza@izsler.it
  • Saidu Oseni : Production and Management - soseni@oauife.edu.ng

To illustrate how the coordinators will serve, for example, if you are a rabbit nutritionist from a LDC, you would contact Concha Cervera by e-mail. Since the deadline date for 10WRC submitted papers is December 15, 2011, it is important to set an earlier deadline of October 15, 2011 for submitting papers to a coordinator from the above list to allow adequate time to review the paper and make helpful recommendations.

Please bear in mind that this programme is offered to LDC scientists at any time, especially when preparing papers for World Rabbit Science. The WRSA will continue to expand efforts to promote good science and successful projects involving rabbits for developing countries.

Sincerely,
Steven D. Lukefahr
WRSA General Secretary for Developing Countries
